What is poetry to me?
Poetry is free speech and an expression of feelings and ideas. It can be deep, random, inspirational, motivational, humorous, sad, touching, romantic, etc. I enjoy writing poems and expressing my feelings and emotions through words that may or may not flow.. but it could be meaningful and depending on the reader, he/she will have their own interpretation. It is a form of art and it could be beautiful. It could be interpreted in different ways like a painting is interpreted. Sometimes, I vent from stress and frustration through poetry and sometimes, I use poetry to share my feelings based on specific topics. In this blog, I will also share with you my art and self-expression through my poetry based on my experience of being a parent and a teacher. One poem I would like to share with you is below: You Can Make a Difference. I will share more poems in the near future… Stay tuned : )
You can make a difference
Make a small difference by picking up paper from the floor of your school and throwing it away,
Make a bigger difference by recycling cans, plastic and paper each and every day,
Make a small difference by allowing an elder to take your seat on a bus or a train,
Make a bigger difference by praying for the less fortunate and homeless each time it rains,
Make a small difference by opening the door for a child in your school in crutches or in a wheelchair,
Make a bigger difference by becoming friends with someone who has no friends and show you care,
Make a small difference by offering a pencil or a pen to someone who needs it,
Make a bigger difference by reading a book a week to your little brother or sister while you both sit,
With each and every action, whether it be big or small… you are making a difference,
With each smile, a small gesture, a hug, a prayer, a hand shake … you are making a difference,
Making a difference starts with you, so start today!
Because of you, the world you live in will be better each day.
Make that move, a small move or a big move and make a difference in someone’s life,
You will make someone happy: a mother, father, sister, brother, husband or wife,
You can make a difference!
